Zebras and Giraffe (paintings)

These were two canvas paintings I did as gifts to my two graduate advisors. Yes, they do a lot of work in Antarctica which is what I mostly worked on, but they are heavily involved in seismic research in Africa as well. Actually my primary advisor grew up in South Africa so that research is on more of a personal level for him. So I figured something Africa-related would be most fitting.

The shininess of the sun, moon, stars, and markings on the animals is a result of using actual gold and silver for highlights.
