125 Days - Day 54 - 9-Degree Column Arcs

I was originally going to hold off on posting this photograph on deviantART because it was supposed to appear on another website, but that was a few months ago so I figure it's not going to happen. Anyway, here I got to see a rare optical effect caused by ice crystals: the 9-degree column arc. I never even heard of them before this happened. At first I thought I might have discovered something new because the appeared to me to be something like 9-degree parhelia (even though I don't see how those could exist), so I showed them to someone who is an authority on ice halos and he said they appeared to be column arcs, created by pyramidal crystals. The reason for them appearing more as dots than arcs could possibly be due to the cloud on which they were projected being long and thin, so only the places where they intersected were the brightest. Either way, I still wanted to share this capture.
